Sonic Youth compilation NR details
SONIC YOUTH'S "THE DESTROYED ROOM: B-SIDES AND RARITIES" CD TO BE RELEASED
ON GEFFEN RECORDS DECEMBER 12TH..VINYL COUNTER-PART ST DATE IS EARLY 2007..
Santa Monica, California, October 30, 2006 - New York's most influential
avant-garde rock band Sonic Youth follows up their critically acclaimed
release of Rather Ripped earlier this year with a special set that is
sure to complete the collection of all Sonic Youth fans. The Destroyed
Room: B-sides And Rarities, a band-chosen collection of near-hidden
Sonic Youth gems, the CD will be released on Geffen Records December 12th.
The album brings together songs from throughout the band's career with
Geffen Records, focusing on tracks previously available only on vinyl,
limited-release compilations, or as b-sides to international singles.
The tracks were hand picked by the band and also include material that
has never before been released. For those that collect vinyl, a double
vinyl LP edition will be released in early 2007 on the band's own
Goofin' Records label.

Sonic Youth spent this past summer on the road kicking off their tour at
the now closed legendary club CBGBs in New York City and continuing on a
headlining tour of the United States. They made a stop at the Bonnaroo
Arts & Music festival in Tennessee before opening for Pearl Jam on some
of their west coast dates. A stint at Lollapalooza followed and then it
was more club dates followed by two sold out performances at McClaren
Pool in Brooklyn with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Sonic Youth will head to
Europe for a string of dates later this year starting with The Nightmare
Before Christmas version of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival which
will be curated by Thurston. The Festival runs December 8-10 and takes
place at a new location in Somerset, England. For international tour

Earlier this year saw the reissue of three of the most daring,
innovative and compelling soundvisions in modern music--Sonic Youth's
landmark 1982 debut album, its legendary twisted pop opus under the
pseudonym Ciccone Youth and band member Thurston Moore's sole solo
album.All remastered, Sonic Youth,. The Whitey Album and Moore's Psychic
Hearts were reissued by Geffen/UMe March 14, 2006.
