Sudden Oak Death
The areas surrounding Woodside and Portola Valley are being hit hard by this pathogen. Entire forests of 200+year-old trees are dying.
Fungicide/fertilizer spraying and trimming of vector trees seems to be controlling the spread, but over a million trees in Northern California have been lost.
