Cat Orientation

My flight out of SFO was delayed for two hours due to a busted air conditioner on the plane. Fortunately it was discovered before we boarded, but it meant landing in Kauai at 8 instead of 6pm.

You have to pay $5 for meals on United now. It doesn't mean the food has improved any. I had an alleged "turkey wrap" about 6 hours ago. It's still sitting in my stomach like a boulder.

Another thing: along with the safety tutorial on airplanes, the flight attendants should take people aside and teach them how to cover their mouths when they sneeze and cough, since apparently most passengers' mothers never taught them such things when they were growing up. I felt like I was sitting on a flying Greyhound bus that had been converted to a flu ward. Next time I housesit, the people are simply going to have to spring for first class tickets. I mean really. I'm tired of these lapses.

Anyway. That's all very far away now, thankfully. I'm on the north shore of Kauai. Finally.

I met the folks I'm housesitting for and three of the four cats I'll be taking care of: Mittens, Bear and Skittles. The latter is laying next to me on the bed, purring very loudly. I'm going to meet the "barn cat" tomorrow. I'll post photos of the felines on my Flickr account soon, because I know you all CAN'T WAIT to see them.

I drive my hosts to the airport around 5pm tomorrow then return here to Kilauea for the remainder of my 14 day retreat.

It's so good to be back here. It still hasn't sunk in yet.

$5 for an airline meal? sheeet. fortunately sfo has some good restaurants. you can get bistro rulli panini to go, then watch the envy on the faces of your fellow passengers as you stink up the cabin with the aroma of fine italian cheese.

meanwhile, i think flying steerage is just too uncivilized. insist on an upgrade!
