Comcast’s N. California Internet Connectivity Melts Down

by admin - April 5th, 2008.
Filed under: comcast, how to alienate me, tech.

People up and down the north coast of California are complaining of slow bandwidth, failing tracreoutes and 35% packet loss via their Comcast internet service. I’ve never seen it this bad.
Speed tests on dslreports.com and Speakeasy are failing– and on the odd occasion they complete, I’m getting 200k downloads (as opposed to the usual 18-20mbps) and upload speeds that are embarrassingly low. This started around 9:30 tonight. It’s now just before midnight.
The last four or five posts dated late in the day on 4/4/08 and early the day after show this isn’t isolated/anecdotal:

Comcast is suffering some sort of regional meltdown tonight. It’s ugly.
[UPDATE 12:37AM]:

Now that’s more like it.
