I’m sure there are weirder/creepier videos out there. It’s just that no others come to mind right now.

Thanks to Brian Turner for the link.

Goodbye Movable Type, Hello WordPress

I’ve changed blogging software. Many thanks to the efficient, friendly and unbelievably speedy support folks at Living Dot hosting. I emailed them at 11 pm last night asking about migrating my blog to WordPress, and less than an hour later my blog looked like this. I’m still kinda stunned how easy (and cheap – like, free) it was.

I’ve re-enabled comments and look forward to not deleting hundreds of spambot entries each week. And your witty, relevant contributions. Of course.

Stay tuned for some more, um, fine tuning.

Facebook: Sucked In, Yeah

I don’t add new entries to this thing much anymore; Facebook has claimed more of my time. It’s easier to update and I have a captive audience.
I’m also not satisfied with Movable Type. My blog hosting service tells me my options are limited as to upgrading/design (let alone comments-spam filters) so until I can find an alternative, updates of these pages may not be as frequent as either of us would like. If you’d like to befriend me on Facebook, use the email link on the bottom left margin (“Me Me Me” section, “contact Paul”).
And while I have what’s left of your attention, can I just go out on a limb and say “screw Twitter”? I know I’m old, but goddamn, it’s annoying. I use it as a marketing tool for work (along with MySpace, Facebook, etc), but personally, the whole concept of it just plays into the clueless and self-absorbed narcissism that makes the internet and mobile telephony less fun everyday. I can think of about two or three people worth following on Twitter, and/yet the more I think about it, the less fun they are, too.

Want.

I bought a glossy 15″ MacBook Pro last Fall. The only regret I have is the non-matte screen. I spend a lot of time on photo editing and the glossy/glassy screen makes the colors lickable, but isn’t good for color correction. I actually resort to plugging the 15″ laptop into an eight-year-old Viewsonic G810 when I feel Photoshop calling.
The new 17 inch MacBook Pro is very, very, very tempting, though. Up until yesterday I was seriously considering buying one primarily for Slingboxing TiVo from the living room to the bedroom. But I came to my senses, and the cheaper alternative will arrive tomorrow. Full report soon.
Which is not to say I still don’t crave some 17″ non-glossy OS X goodness, of course.
